ABSOLUTELY!!! Kids are "hungry" to learn something new everyday (especially preschoolers) and spelling & writing their name is often times one of the first things they learn. However, without the fine-motor development required to write, the print tends to be large and illegible.

Our MY NAME page will assist your child with their fine-motor skills while teaching or reviewing the complete alphabet (capital & lowercase letters) and their full name. It is normal for a child beginning to write to do so very large; therefore, we split the page into developmental stages. Your child would start by tracing their name in large print until mastered. Then they would learn to trace their name in a smaller print. Before you know it, they will be writing their name both legibly and independently on the last line! An accomplishment that deserves to be celebrated.

Flip the page over and children will learn/review the alphabet and a few colors. Then as they trace over each letter, they will learn to follow the directions of the colors and/or arrows. Following directions is a simple necessary skill, but can be difficult for some.

Your child will now be prepared for the next step -> cursive writing. That's right, once they have gained the fine-motor control required for writing, they can (even at 5 years old) successfully master the art of cursive writing. A skill no longer taught in school, so why not expose them to it when they are "hungry" for it.
